ABOUT US
Establishment Snyder Electronics was founded in 1960 by Bert Snyder. He developed a line of pressure sensitive floor mats which were used for access control in doorways and as a bed-side alerting system for protecting elderly patients. Ten years later, his son Wayne Snyder took over the company and began a program of developing higher technology products. A few years later, Jim Briggs came onboard as a consulting engineer and helped to expand the company with new technology products, many using RF links, to eliminate wired connections and installation problems. Many of these products are still in production today. Surge in R&D Inovation  Around 1998, Wayne saw the potential of RFID and began development of products in this area. Initial products used LF technology, and several LF antennas were developed. With Mr. Briggs background in RF products, the company began development of HF antennas at 13.56 MHz. This culminated in a partnership with Texas Instruments and The Gap stores, to outfit a complete retail store with “smart shelves”. This pilot program was successful, enabling a complete inventory of the retail area and back stock shelves to be done in under 10 minutes, instead of many hours using manual counting. Continuity After Change in Management In 2002, the company began development of UHF antennas at 915MHz. There are now several models available, crowned by the “Sidewinder” antenna for portal reading. This antenna uses waveguide technology to achieve the highest performance of any UHF antenna available today. It incorporates a built in motion sensor which can be used to control the associated reader. It also enables the reader to report which direction the tag is moving through the portal. Mr. Wayne Snyder passed away in 2002, and Jim Briggs now manages the company. It was incorporated in January 2006, as Snyder Antenna Systems, Inc. |
